"The Enchanted Ceremony" circa 8' x 8' acrylic on bus
I will paint a mural at the Great American Muralist Competition at a large public venue. It’s a 3-day event in which each muralist will paint an original acyrlic 40″x60″ mural on canvas based on this year’s theme “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost.
To summarize, I would like to document this show professionally and hire an assistant locally to record the “mural experience” during the 3 days in Tucson at the convention center. Thousands of attendees will come to the event and watch the muralists in action. A DVD will follow that documents the event from my perspective. I am in the “rising star” category and will compete with other muralists for prizes and the chance to have my mural auctioned off the day after the event in which half the proceeds goes to a chartity of my choice. I would like it to be related to funding the arts in the schools.
The mural competition is just the beginning! Proceeding this amazing event, this show will be like my springboard or “launching pad” to running a full-time mural/pet portrait business and become a positive leader to communities who could use more art and murals. Schools are either cutting art programs or have none at all, and I want to do my part and bring change. This is where I feel I can make a huge impact. I want to teach art and art workshops, collaborate with other aritsts for unqiue projects, create art and murals in urban and remote locations around the globe, I want to inspire children the value of creative expression. I’m a huge believer that the arts are essential in fostering creative problem solving, which can help children excel in other subjects in school.
Rewards will be given for your donations, I have until Oct 12 to raise $600 which will help cover transportation, art materials, hiring an assistant to produce a DVD, and anything extra towards travel and redesigning my website. All funds will go to this project.
