Moab Serenity – just like Mars

On my recent trip to Moab, Utah I went to Arches National Monument Park to paint this red desert scene. Being at this location felt more out of this world than even in Santa Fe. The desert being so red, reminded me of pictures on Mars. I’m sure painting on a Martian landscape would be pretty close to this. I loved the snow-capped mountains in the background, and painted them. The whole painting took longer than I would have liked. But I only used 1 brush and a palette knife. Lots of texture and color here, I have learned that you can make a beautiful mess and not have muddy colors. Enjoy!
