Day 1: Great American Mural Project

~ art & creative journal writing by Josh Lance

I’m in Tucson and just finished Day 1 of 3.  I spent 9 hours painting and found my inspiration for my subject somewhere between Hatch and Deming, NM.  I like how a card (as in a deck of cards) have an image inside, as well as an upside-down image.  So painting this image would be a challenge, so my mural will involve two landscapes in one.  One is an east coast fall scene, the other a desert scene.  You can hang it any way you want and it will always have an image right side up.  I spent most of the day on the East coast scene in an impressionist scene, and possibly one of my best.  Can’t wait for Day 2.
