Part two of my Sedona trip last month, where I stopped from the Mesa art show and painted this scene outside a local mini-mall.  I love the yellows how they melt into the red rocks.  I tried to use simple shapes and a palette knife to carve out the rocks.  I used a yellow ochre instead of my usual bright yellow, but I just wanted to see the effect.  This post is part of the same one a few days prior, so I don’t want to talk about it too much or I’ll sound redundant.  But anyway, a touch of pinks were used to finalize the piece, as I am getting more comfortable using the values to illustrate how shadow and light dance around the objects.
